DJI Agras T55 Launched: First Look for Irish Operators

DJI launched two new agricultural drones globally on 1 July 2026 — the all-new Agras T55 and a dual-battery version of the Agras T100. As Ireland’s DJI agriculture dealer, here’s our quick take on what landed, why the T55 in particular suits Irish conditions, and what it means if you’re weighing up a drone this year.

The Agras T55: what’s new

The T55 slots in above the T50 with a bigger tank and a completely upgraded sensing package. The headline numbers, per DJI:

• 50 L spray tank with a flow rate of up to 50 L/min using mist sprinklers
• 55 kg spreading payload with a spreading rate of up to 400 kg/min
• 40 kg lifting capacity with Auto Balance Control and an emergency cable release
• An all-new millimetre-wave radar producing up to 250,000 points per second for obstacle detection
• A quad-vision camera system — three top-mounted cameras plus a low-light full-colour FPV camera covering front, rear, sides and below

The feature that matters most in Ireland: radar that works in rain and fog

Most spec-sheet upgrades are incremental. This one isn’t — DJI says the T55’s new radar has been upgraded specifically to operate reliably in rain and fog. Anyone who has planned drone work around an Irish forecast knows exactly what that’s worth. Combined with obstacle detection built for hedgerows, ESB lines and the cluttered field margins we actually work in, the T55 reads like it was specced with conditions like ours in mind.

The 55 kg spreading payload at 400 kg/min is the other number to notice. Spreading — seed, fertiliser, lime — is what’s legal in Ireland today, so spreading performance is the spec that earns money this season, not tank size.

The T100 goes dual-battery

Alongside the T55, DJI launched a dual intelligent battery system for the flagship Agras T100, increasing hover time by around 50% while carrying the same payload. For heavy spreading and lifting work — hill fencing materials, bog access, big reseeding jobs — that’s fewer battery swaps and more time in the air per hectare.

Where does the T55 fit in the lineup?

Our early read for Irish buyers:

• T25 — still the right first drone for a typical family farm: one person, fits in a jeep.
• T50 — the proven contractor workhorse, now at sharper value as the T55 arrives above it.
• T55 — the new sweet spot for serious contractors: near-T70 capacity with the newest safety stack and all-weather radar.
• T70P / T100 — for maximum output on big blocks and heavy lift work, the T100 now with the dual-battery option.
